Delhi’s girls basketball team put up a fight against visiting Ripon Christian in the first quarter, trailing 10-6 at one point on Tuesday.
Ripon Christian accounted for the rest of the points in yet another Southern League landslide victory, this time by a 58-6 margin. The Knights (6-0, 12-5 overall) used a 25-0 flurry in the second quarter and cruised from there.
Teagan Manus alone more than quadrupled Delhi’s scoring output with 27 points. Ellen Blankers and Carly Tillema added eight points apiece.
Ripon Christian is likely to get more of a challenge this Thursday when it plays host to Gustine (5-0, 8-3), the league’s other undefeated squad.
Trans-Valley League
Hilmar 42, Ripon 34
The tough losses continue to pile up for the Indians (1-4, 5-11), who held a 10-point lead at halftime before host Hilmar (3-3, 9-9) dominated the final two quarters. Kelsey Alexander did all she could, firing 19 points and 11 rebounds.
It is the second time in league that Ripon blew a double-digit halftime lead. It has now lost 10 of its last 11.
Sophomore
Ripon Christian 54, Delhi 10
The Knights were spearheaded by Jessica Van Vliet’s 12 points, six rebounds and five steals.
Bailey Broker, Lauren DeVries and Jessica Orozco each turned in eight points as every Ripon Christian player scored. The Knights were ahead 28-4 at halftime.

Beth Weststeyn dominated the nonleague contest, amassing 23 points and 19 rebounds.
Molly Hoeksema added eight points, five rebounds and four assists for Ripon Christian (10-4).
