Ripon Christian senior Taylor Anema is one of 49 student-athletes to be awarded the Sac-Joaquin Section’s A. Dale Lacky/CSEA Scholarship.
All scholarship winners will be recognized this morning in a breakfast awards ceremony held at Hutchins Street Square in Lodi. The event begins at 9.
The section shelled out $26,350 in all, honoring athletes who also excelled academically and were active in community service.
The top two scholarship winners, one male and one female, earned the Clarke Coover Scholarship Award. Getting the $1,200 award are Pitman’s Nolan Lok and Livingston’s Annie Winton. Four males and four females received the A. Dale Lacky $800 award.
The remaining honorees get $450 apiece, including Anema. She’s a two-time All-Southern League team selection in volleyball as a middle blocker and a one-time All-Trans Valley League selection while playing guard for the Ripon Christian basketball squad. She has played each sport all four years, and soccer for one season.
Outside of the gymnasium, Anema is a lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation and is involved with Knightsounds, Knightingales, Student Council and Close-Up. She volunteers her time with her church, Family Promise and as coach for a middle school basketball camp.
Anema boasts a 4.37 grade point average and ranks No. 1 out of 38 in her class. She’s headed for Dordt College in Iowa where she plans to major in biology. She aspires to work in physical therapy or secondary education.
