RIPON — Ripon Christian goalie Josh Tatton did his best to keep his team in the game, but the relentless Amador attack did enough to escape with a 3-2 nonleague win on Thursday.
Tatton finished with 13 saves, including one that led to the go-ahead goal for the visiting Buffaloes (3-5) who scored on the rebound in the 56th minute. Amador pushed the lead to 3-1 just three minutes later.
Ripon Christian came into its final tune-up before Southern League play having scored just three goals all season. Nick Van Vliet put the Knights on board with a header off Mattijs Moret’s corner-kick cross in the 26th minute, tying it at 1-all.
Logan Van Vuren buried a penalty kick in the 71st minute to give RC some hope in salvaging a tie, but the Knights were unable to mount a threat down the stretch.
Ripon Christian kicks off the league schedule next Wednesday at Le Grand.
