Ripon awaits playoff seedings

Ripon is in wait-and-see mode following a 60-45 victory over Orestimba in Newman Tuesday.

While coach Rod Wright is certain that his Indians (11-16 overall), who evened their Trans-Valley League record to 6-6 in the regular-season finale, have qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoffs, it is now a matter of where they are seeded and where they are playing in the first round.

“I was hoping we’d end up closer to .500 overall, but everything starts over and it’s a new season,” Wright said.

Junior Derek Hickman anchored Ripon’s dominant effort against the last-place Warriors (1-11, 6-21), finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Henk Gaalswyk also turned in 15 points, Chase DePrue added 12 and Cole Herrin had eight.

The Indians were 24 for 29 from the free-throw line.
