RIPON — It was a dominant outing for Ripon’s water polo teams at Ervin Zador Aquatic Center on Thursday, as they crushed Calaveras for Valley Oak League victories.

Ripon’s girls jumped out to an early big lead that held up for a 14-9 win, while the boys followed with a 14-7 triumph.

Molly Burton scored three of her four goals in the opening period for the Lady Indians, who built a 6-0 lead. Burton also had a pair of assists.

Chloe Winter added four goals of her own, accounting for three of her team’s four in the third period. Amber Scheid and Mallory Brubaker chipped in two goals apiece, while Lauren McGowan and Kaylee Medeiros had one each. Scheid also led the defense with four steals, and goalie Madyson Valencia recorded five saves.

For the boys, Ty Wells and Maika West led the way with three goals each. Wells did all of his damage in the first quarter, when Ripon, which improved to 2-0 in the Valley Oak League, rallied for a 7-2 advantage.

Conner Self scored twice. Lucas Esenwein, Kaleb Hinrichsen, Jake Chapon, Kai West and Jaskehar Sekhon contributed one goal each. Matthew de la O finished with seven saves, and Wells took over goalkeeping duties late in the contest and picked up a pair of saves.

Ripon will look to keep rolling next Tuesday when it travels to Central Catholic.
