RIPON — Ripon Christian went old school for Throwback Thursday.

The Knights played at the school’s old gym and swept past Gustine 25-14, 25-12, 25-15. They remain two matches back of Orestimba, which edged Mariposa in five to keep its lead atop the Southern Athletic League standings.

“The energy was great, and the girls were poised,” Ripon Christian coach Jocelyn Benziger said.

Outside hitter Paige Vos led the charge with 13 kills and seven digs. Bethany Silveira picked up 11 digs and served six aces. Setter Taylor Alger distributed 29 assists.

Renae Heida and Makenzie Miller each added four kills to the attack. Megan Bos swatted three kills. She and Lauren Braga served four aces apiece.

Ripon Christian (4-2 SAL, 5-11 overall) will look to keep it rolling next week with road matches at Waterford and Delhi. The Knights also face Trans-Valley League contender Escalon next Tuesday for a nonleague contest.
