Manteca vs Lathrop

Forfeit or not, the Manteca High Buffaloes posted steady overall scores at Monday’s Valley Oak League match against Lathrop at the French Camp Golf Course.

Logan Jackson, who is the team’s No. 4 player, earned medalist honors by shooting a 47 at the par-32 nine-hole event.

“We didn’t have enough players,” said Manteca coach Ian Wilbur, who noted that two of his players withdrew to force the automatic forfeiture.

As Jackson, she finished a stroke ahead of teammates’ Alyssa Gutierrez (48) and Arsh Kaur (48), respectively, the No. 2 and No. 6 players for the Buffaloes (3-4 in VOL).

Kylee Eberle, Manteca’s top golfer, carded a 49 while No. 5 Danika Hunt fired a 50. No. 3 player Haighley Kissee (55) rounded out the scoring.

“It was super hot today but my girls pushed through it,” said Buffaloes coach Andrea Hiatt. “We had five who had their best scores to date – it made for an exciting day.”

Manteca is hoping to see the momentum carry over to Wednesday’s match against East Union.

The Spartans, meanwhile, were led by No. 5 golfer Vialsy Cabrales, who tallied a 62.

Kaitlynn Edrington, at No. 2, and No. 1 player Chloe Malicoat, shot 67 and 68, respectively.

Lathrop’s No. 6 player Amy Ratta finished with a 71.
