RIVERBANK — Ripon High’s girls and boys basketball teams secured at least a share of the Trans-Valley League championships on Thursday.

After failing to seize it outright Tuesday against reigning champion Mountain House, the girls squad took it out on Riverbank with a decisive 72-54 bounce-back win.

Both Ripon teams can take sole possession of the crown against visiting rival Ripon Christian over the next two nights, starting with the girls today.

“I was really pleased with how we responded from Tuesday’s loss,” Ripon coach Rick Inderbitizn said. “We came out and played solid basketball.

“It was a big win for us to be two games up in league with two big games coming up,” he added. Hopefully we will be ready for RC, who is a pretty good team.”

Ripon (9-1 TVL, 19-4 overall) dominated inside and out, with Mia Van Lewen anchoring the post with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Reina Sausedo produced 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Reserve center Katie Kaiser added 10 points, while Savannah Clark gathered 12 rebounds to go with six points.

Aliza Teixeira and Savannah Macias paced Riverbank (3-7, 8-15) with 18 and 12 points, respectively.

Boston finished with a game-high 27 points, while Lomax chipped in 11 and nine rebounds. Justice Stitt contributed 14 points, DeArri Ross had 12 and Damaysha Huff racked up eight blocks.

Lindsey Walljasper powered the Timberwolves with 22 points and 22 rebounds. Jordan Hayter, Jasmin Correa and Dulce Cruz (13 rebounds) scored eight points apiece.

RIPON — The Indians (10-0 TVL, 19-6 overall) led 9-4 after a slow first quarter for both teams, and Riverbank (6-4, 10-15) mounted a late charge that fell short.

Robert Cunha buried back-to-back 3s down the stretch to tie it at 48-48. Troy Brogan, who led Ripon with 15 points, answered with a bucket, and Kyle Sisk sank four straight free throws to seal it. Sisk scored eight of his 12 points in the fourth quarter, and Benson Pali came off the bench to score nine points and provide energy.

Theo Luu fired 15 points for the Bruins, and Beto Jimenez hit four 3s for the bulk of his 14 points.
