MOUNTAIN HOUSE – Ripon scored three goals in the final four minutes to pull away from a scrappy senior-night Mountain House squad for a 5-2 Trans-Valley League girls soccer win.

Devaney Dougherty scored a pair of goals for the Indians (7-1-1, 12-4-2) on assists from Aubree Pelon and Megan Johnson to give Ripon a 2-1 halftime lead.

The Mustangs (2-8, 5-15) tied the game in the 52nd minute and it remained deadlocked until the 76th minute when Pelon got a through ball to Madison Pugh to put Ripon ahead 3-2. The Indians added two more goals in the remaining four minutes when Dougherty scored on an assist from Ariana Scholten and when Scholten had her corner kick bounce back to her and she was able to get it to Pelon for the final goal.

Ripon outshot Mountain House 23-7 with Mustangs goalie Taylor Benzor making 11 saves.

DELHI – Rachel Oosterman’s goal on an assist from Alysia Templeman was all the offense the Knights (9-3-2, 12-8-2) could muster. The tie knocked Ripon Christian out of the playoffs.

“We had opportunities,” Ripon Christian coach Kevin Tameling said. “They did not have shots on goal the second half but the ball just didn’t bounce our way. Their goalie played well.

“This was tough for the seniors. We had adversity and challenges and it is a season the girls won’t forget but unfortunately we cannot extend it.”

The Hawks improve to 3-7-4, 4-9-4.
