Ripon High’s girls golf team teed off the Valley Foothill League season Tuesday with a resounding 170-238 victory over visiting Riverbank at Jack Tone Golf Course.

Veteran standout Sienna Starck shared medalist honors with teammate Hailey Rae Rose. They both finished 8-over-par 31.

Erin Wever placed third with a 42, and Claire Wever turned in a solid 48. Emily Blevins was Riverbank’s leader with a 46.

Ripon returns to Jack Tone Golf Course Thursday when it takes on Linden.



Hughson 192, Ripon Christian 222

At Jack Tone Golf Course, Hughson’s Mary Lambert edged out Kaitlin Groshong by two strokes for low-medalist distinction. Lambert carded a 41.

Also scoring for Ripon Christian were Rachel Struiksema (58), Lauren Van Till (60) and Caroline Strong (61).

The Buffaloes recorded their first win of the season behind Katie Hankins’ 50 on the Manteca Park Golf Course par-37 front nine.
