Ripon Knights varsity earns trip to Super Bowl

The Ripon Knights varsity throttled the Gustine Redskins 54-13 Saturday in Tran-Valley Youth Football League semifinal playoff action to earn a spot in the TVYFL Super Bowl.  

 Jacob Cormier and Blake Nichelson scored five touchdowns between them and racked up nearly 300 yards rushing. Cormier had three touchdowns with 149 yards rushing and Nichelson had 148 yards rushing with two scores. Quarterback Trey Fasani rushed for two scores and Derek Vanelderen was successful on six two-point conversion kicks. 

 Nichelson tallied nine tackles followed by C.J. Cavazos with five while Trey Fasani, Stanley Kensic and Jacob Cormier each had four stops.  

 The Knights will compete in the Super Bowl against the Hughson Oilers next Sunday at Patterson Community Stadium at 4:30 p.m. 

 

Junior Varsity

Ripon Knights 68, Gustine Redskins 0

 Anden Reis, Jacob Camper and Carson Sanders combined for eight Knights touchdowns to help Ripon punch its ticket to the Super Bowl. 

 Ries (96 yards rushing) scored on runs of 4, 35 and 51 yards. Camper (85 yards rushing) scored from 9 and 28 yards out, Sanders (68 yards rushing, 58 yards receiving) had 4- and 37-yard touchdown runs and Stephen Dillman had a 32-yard scoring run. Rey Galindo returned a fumble 32 yards for a touchdown.

Jace Beidleman was 3 of 5 passing for 58 yards and Chase Bogetti went 7 for 9 on two-point conversion kicks.

Ries (forced fumble) made seven tackles, Sanders (interception, forced fumble) and Cade Gemmell (fumble recovery) six, Bogetti five, Camper four, Andrew Mensonidis three, Brady Rossi two and Jesse Healy an interception.

The junior varsity Super Bowl will be at 1:30 p.m. next Saturday at Patterson Community Park. 

Novice

Ripon Knights 28, Hughson Oilers 7

 Mason Durao had a perfect passing day with two touchdowns and Gavin Decena also scored two touchdowns for the Knights.

 Durao went 6 for 6 passing for 60 yards with a touchdown throw to Decena (14 carries, 120 yards, rushing touchdown, receiving touchdown) and a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jack Peters. Landon Corcoran tallied 50 yards on 16 carries with one rushing touchdown.

 Jax Booth (fumble recovery) led Ripon with 10 tackles. Durao and Corcoran added five stops each while Chase Bunnell and Dylan Parker each had a fumble recovery.

 The Knights advance to the Super Bowl at Patterson Community Park next Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Varsity League Semifinals

Manteca Jr.

 Timberwolves 46, 

Tracy Buccaneers 22

 Evyn White scored three second-half touchdowns to help the Jr. Timberwolves rebound from a 22-14 halftime deficit. 

 White (three carries, 100 yards) had touchdown runs of 31 and 51 yards and he returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown. Alijah Cota was the workhorse for Manteca, racking up 237 yards on 24 carries with scoring runs of 4, 5 and 15 yards. Keanu Duenas (seven carries, 51 yards) added a 30-yard touchdown run.  

 Cota made nine tackles, Jason Agulay seven and Duenas (fumble recovery), White, Luis Rivera and Adrian Rios all had four tackles apiece. 

 The Jr. Timberwolves face the Manteca Cowboys next Saturday at 4 p.m. at Dino Cunial Field for the league championship and a berth in the NCYF Super Bowl. 

 

Manteca Cowboys 43, 

Tracy Rampage 20

 Keona Cayode scored four touchdowns and Dylan Lee threw for two for the Cowboys. 

 Cayode (90 yards rushing, 70 yards receiving) pulled in a 70-yard scoring throw from Lee and ran for scores of 7, 25 and 35 yards. Lee was 5 of 7 passing for 137 yards and had a 5-yard touchdown pass to Ace Avelar (20 yards rushing). Emilio Perez (50 yards rushing) scored on a 3-yard run. 

  Manteca’s Marques Callahan added 30 yards receiving and 50 return yards, Colton Stonum had 42 yards rushing and Angel Ramirez had 32 yards receiving,

Cayode (four tackles) and Avelar (three tackles) each made an interception. Angel Ramirez, Colton Stonum, and  R.J. Bacigalupi made three tackles apiece and Nick Luna, Dylan Lee, Emilio Perez and J.R. Espinosa added two stops each. Gurjaan Bhangu recovered a fumble. 

 The Cowboys play for the league championship next Saturday at noon at Dino Cunial Field for a berth in the NCYF Super Bowl.  

Rookies

Manteca Cowboys 13, 

Mtn. House Mustangs 6

 The Cowboys covered a late onside kick by the Mustangs and were able to knee out the clock.

 Jeremy Ap’e (five carries, 23 yards) scored on a 5-yard run for the Cowboys and Nikko Juarez (five carries, 54 yards) pulled in a 6-yard touchdown reception from Anthony Morales. Christopher Gallego added 80 yards on 15 carries.

 Ap’e led the Manteca defense with five tackles. Christopher Gallego and Mehtaab Banghu added four stops apiece with Kayden Jones, Dylan Stonum, Julian Constance and Nikko Juarez made three tackles each.

 The Cowboys play for the league championship next Saturday at noon at Dino Cunial Field for a berth in the NCYF Super Bowl.

Manteca Cowboys 6

 Leiland Riggelman and Kendall Sweet-Mallory each scored two touchdowns for the Jr. Timberwolves.

 Sweet-Mallory (nine carries, 139 yards) scored on runs of 15 and 18 yards and Riggelman (12 carries, 118 yards) had touchdown runs of 2 and 11 yards. Elijah Pugh added 31 yards on four carries. 

 Manteca’s Brody Carabello and Brixton Menchaca-Ortiz made six tackles each. Sweet-Mallory added five tackles while Brennan McMichael, Alex Espinoza, Riggelman, Tino Torres and Elijah Pugh made four stops each.

 

Varsity semifinals

Manteca Jr. Timberwolves 52, 

Galt Warriors 0

 Duenas scored the only two times he touched the ball with touchdown runs of 25 and 95 yards for the Jr. Timberwolves on Saturday, Oct. 27.

 Joey Lopez (4 of 6 passing, 57 yards) hit Jessica Perea with an 18-yard touchdown pass and he ran in a score from 5 yards out. White (5 carries for 81 yards) had a 47-yard touchdown run, Tommy Perea scored from 7 yards out Jason Garcia had a 6-yard touchdown run. Cota had seven carries for 65 yards and Jack Cunial was 4 for 6 on conversion kicks.

 Duenas (interception), Cota and White had four tackles each. Agulay and Dominic Ferreira-Moniz had three tackles apiece and Tyler Looney made two tackles.
