Two down, two more to go for Ripon High’s boys water polo team.

The Indians continued their march toward their first-ever Sac-Joaquin Section Division II title with Tuesday’s 9-5 quarterfinal win over Christian Brothers at Rocklin’s Whitney High.

Ripon (26-3) shot out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period and held on from there. Zach Scudder led the way with three goals. Ty Wells, Nathaniel Gagnon and Kole Gonzalez chipped in two apiece. Jacob Thompson had three saves in what was another strong defensive effort from the Indians, who opened their postseason run with a lopsided 22-3 win over Ceres last Thursday.

Up next is Solano County Athletic Conference champion Dixon (30-4-1), which defeated Ponderosa, 10-7. The two will square off in the semifinal round Thursday back at Whitney.

Also on Tuesday, Rio Americano trounced Oakdale 22-7, while Roseville knocked off Benicia, 9-7.
