Ripon pins down first dual win

Ripon High’s wrestling team earned its first dual victory of the season Wednesday, outlasting visiting Denair, 48-36.

Chris Delgado (126 pounds) came through a clutch pin that assured the victory with one match to go. It was otherwise a disappointing effort to head coach Glen White, who said four of his wrestlers were pinned while holding leads.

“It’s still early, but we have some work to do,” White said, adding that many of his grapplers are either first-year wrestlers or still rounding into shape.

Others producing victories by fall were Javier Hernandez (138), Edgar Gonzalez  (145), Cody Ley-Han (170), Angelo Calderon (182) and Tristan Smith (220).
