Ripon High’s boys basketball team didn’t have too tough a challenge from the Hughson Huskies, and it showed in a 67-34 blowout Trans Valley League victory Friday in Ripon.

The Indians (3-0 TVL, 10-7 overall) got standout efforts from Dante Machado and Jake McCreath, who poured in 15 and 13, respectively. Reserve forward Walter Fassler got in and made his presence felt with eight points off the bench.

Ripon built a 36-11 halftime lead and held on to outscore the Huskies by eight in the second half. The Indians will try and remain unblemished in TVL play when they travel to Salida to meet up with the Modesto Christian Crusaders Tuesday.

The Knight used a big second quarter effort to distance themselves from the Denair Coyotes Friday in Southern League play.

Logan Vos put up a game-high 22 point performance to lead all scorers, while teammate and brother Dan Vos finished with 17. Ripon Christian (4-0 SL, 11-5 overall) held a slim one basket lead heading into the second, but outscored Denair 19-12 providing the difference in the game.

“In that second quarter we really started hitting our shots,” Ripon Christian head coach Ron Vander Molen said. “We were able to knock down some three’s and then do a good job at the foul line at the end of the game.”

Dylan Van Vliet and Logan Vos combined to go 8-of-10 from the free throw line to ice the game down the stretch. Van Vliet finished with seven points, all of which came in the pivotal fourth quarter.

The Knights will be back on the court Tuesday when they travel to their third straight road game and meet up with Turlock Christian.
