Ripon romps at Modesto Christian

Coming off a tough five-game loss to rival Escalon, Ripon bounced back nicely with Monday’s 25-13, 25-10, 25-23 sweep at Modesto Christian.

Sam McCreath and Shannon Wesley each doled out seven kills for the Indians (2-2 Trans-Valley League, 12-6 overall). McCreath also served three aces.

Lauren Weibe dished out 15 assists, Emily O’Brien picked up nine digs and Karisa Carlson added two blocks.

“A great night for the entire team,” Ripon coach Adrienne Beltrami said. “The energy was up but we played calm and confident, as well.”

 

Nonleague

Manteca 3, Grace Davis 0

In Modesto, the Buffaloes (7-7) were able to get some work in for all players as they have the remainder of the week off from Valley Oak League action. They routed Grace Davis, 25-12, 25-20, 25-16.

“Everybody got a chance to play and everybody played well,” Manteca coach Kevin Bolding said. “It seemed like no matter who we had in there was no drop off and they got the job done.”

Morgan Miramontes led a balanced effort with six kills and 13 digs. Aryanna Martinez and Mildred Perez each hammered five kills, and Alyssa Burch added five to go with four blocks. Jasmine Basuil contributed 12 assists, and Summer Kirby had 11 digs.

 

Sophomore

Manteca 2, Grace Davis 0

Manteca held off the Spartans 25-10, 29-27.

Tawny Deerinck slapped down seven kills and Emily Yu contributed six. Destainie Elliot and Sarah Inderbitzin had three blocks apiece.
