Ripon didn’t have to wait long to exact revenge against Sierra, though both teams had to travel farther for the rematch.

Just six days after losing to their area rival at home, the Indians produced a defensive gem Monday in a 32-21 win in a winners-bracket semifinal of the West Coast Jamboree’s Topaz Division. Tonight at 6, they’ll encounter Freedom of Oakley for the championship. Freedom is the host school for this bracket.

The difference for Ripon (7-5) was its 15-2 run in the third quarter. It was the only period in which either team churned out double-digit points. The Indians led by as much as 15.

“At halftime we talked about coming out with more intensity and we were able to create turnovers with our defensive pressure,” Ripon coach George Contente said.

Jourdy Richter paced Ripon with 11 points. Zaire Davis finished with six but pulled down 17 rebounds. Kayla Wilson had 10 points for Sierra (3-7), which takes on Los Banos in the third-place game starting at 3 today.
