RIPON — The post-Nick Sharp era started with a win for Ripon High’s boys golf team.
And his heir apparent is a freshman.
Connor Larkin led the Indians with a 1-over 32, and they defeated visiting Manteca 182-223 at Jack Tone Golf Course.
“Connor Larkin is looking to fill those shoes — he’s a very talented kid,” Ripon coach Chris Musseman said. Sharp is the 2015 Manteca Bulletin All-Area Boys Golfer of the Year. “The rest of the team played well today but it’s been a roller coaster so far, but for our first match that’s a pretty good score.”
Luis Candido (35), Justin Brito (37), Darren Sexton (38) and Rhet Herrin (40) outscored all of Manteca’s players. Scoring for the Buffaloes were Dylan Haro (41), Ray Gallardo (42), Isaac Dill (45), Jonathan White (47) and Nate Ibe (48).
