RIPON – Ripon swept visiting Lathrop on Friday in Valley Oak League swimming action, winning every event in taking the varsity boys 133-17, the varsity girls 124-41 and frosh/soph girls 87-15.
Noah Esenwein and Ty Wells took a pair of firsts for Indians with Esenwein winning the 100-meter freestyle with a Sac-Joaquin Section qualifying time of 50.73 seconds and the 100 breast (1:07.58). Wells won the 200 individual medley with a Section qualifying time of 2:02.86 and 100 fly (57:26).
Lucas Eisenwein earned a frosh/soph Section berth winning the 50 free (23.56) and he finished second in the 100 free (51.96). Matthew De La O also got a frosh-soph Section qualifying time, taking third in the 100 free (1.02.68) and he was third in the 50 free (26.93).
Maika West and Kia West went 1-2 in the 200 free with Maika winning (2:00.94) and Kai taking second (2:02.58) and Connor Self won the 100 back (1.08.59). Jaskehar Sekhon was second in the 200 individual medley (2:31.06) and the 100 fly (1.07.46) and Alex Newkirk was second in the 100 fly (1:22.76) and fourth in the 100 back (1:38.56).
Jake Chapin was second in the 100 breast (1.16.59) and fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:34.10) and Nolan Boger was second in the 50 free (26.68) and fourth in the 100 breast (1:26.49).
Lathrop’s Rudy Esquibel was third in the 200 individual medley (2:38.53) and 100 breast (1:21.88), finishing fourth in the 100 fly (1:05.93). Cezar Morga was third in the 200 free (2:54.94) and fifth in the 100 fly (1:16.07).
Mallory Brubaker won the 200 free girls (2:04.28) and was on the 200 free relay team with Chloe Winter, Elizabeth Wenner, and Amber Scheid that took first place and posted a Section qualifying time of 1.49.85. Brubaker and Eleanor Tran, Amy Bacay and Emma Ayers won the 400 relay (4:13.21) and Brubaker was second in the 100 back (1:11.80).
Wenner won the 50 free (26.28) and 100 free (58.92); Scheid won the 100 breast (1:08.64) and second in the 200 free (2:05.57); Winter won the 200 individual medley (2:32.37) and was second in the 100 fly (1:08.18). Bacay won the 100 back (1:08.64) and was second in the 100 free (1:01.23); Tran won the 100 fly (1:07.24) and was second in the 100 breast (1:23.13).
Three Indians posted frosh/soph Section qualifying times: Lauren McGowan (500 free, first 5:53.06); Emma Ayers (500 free, second, 5:53.63) and Ashtyne Topie (second, 50 free, 26.49). Topie was third in the 100 free (1:02.56).
Lathrop’s Ana de la Garza was second in the 200 individual medley (2.33.86), third in the 50 free (29.60) and third in the 500 free (6:23.51); Priscila de la Garza was third in the 100 back and Daniella Sanchis was third in the 100 breast (1:41.03).
