Ripon volleyball falls before Hilmar

HILMAR — The Ripon volleyball team came up short against defending Trans-Valley League champion Hilmar on Wednesday.

The four-game loss (19-25, 25-21, 17-25, 18-25) evens Ripon’s league record to 2-2 and 8-6 overall. Hilmar improved to 4-0 and 18-5.

Samantha McCreath fired 19 kills for the Indians. Makayla Buie added four blocks and two aces. Lauren Wiebe handed out 40 assists, and Ashlyn Eisenga tallied 21 digs.

Brooke Riley finished even-par 37 to place first in the Valley Oak League dual match at Manteca Park Golf Course.

The Lancers (9-0) also had solid contributions form Natalie Cowan (44). Chloe Cardenas (49), Brittany Conjin (50) and Allie Tajii (51) rounded out the team score. Maya Crooms cardeda  42 to pace Kimball (6-2).
