ALL TVL VB
Reagan Wilkerson (8) keeps the ball in play as teammate Makenzie Loechler (2) looks on in Ripon’s California Interscholastic Federation Division IV Northern Regional opener against Chico.

Four members of Ripon’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV champion girls volleyball team made the All-Trans-Valley League team.

In football, a two-way lineman made the cut for both offense and defense, while one of the leading ball hawks in the SJS joins him on the defensive list.

Senior middle Makenzie Loechler (141 kills, 40 aces, 85 blocks), senior right-side hitter Avery McKiernan (174 kills, 27 blocks), junior setter Kaya Whittaker (488 assists, 366 digs, 96 aces) and junior libero/setter Reagan Wilkerson (366 digs, 169 assists, 70 aces) are on the all-league volleyball team.

Junior right-side hitter/middle Katherin Eskes and senior outside Eden Velasco earned honorable mention.

The Indians (10-2 TVL, 22-11 overall) were runners-up behind powerhouse Escalon, which won the SJS Division III championship. Escalon’s Emily Vickers (MVP) and Ryllie Lattig (Most Outstanding) garnered the top awards.

Ripon’s football team went 2-4 in league and 5-7 overall, ending the season strong with a 35-30 come-from-behind win over Rosemont in the SJS Division V playoffs before putting a scare into top-seeded Sutter, 14-0.

Camryn Arriola was named an all-league lineman on both sides of scrimmage. The 6-foot, 236-pounde senior had 33 tackles, 3 ½ sacks, two forced fumbles and two recovered on defense. Cornerback Jesus Ochoa also made all-league defense after grabbing eight interceptions, which is second most in the SJS, according to MaxPreps.

Senior lineman Emiliano Acosta, junior all-around threat Xzavier Clark and senior linebackers Aiden Krupa and Ricky Ochoa made honorable mention.

Hilmar finished as TVL champion, but runner-up Hughson (Division V-AA) and Escalon (IV-AA) captured state and section titles.
