The East Union-Lathrop quarterfinal matchup did not materialize after the two Manteca Unified schools had different results Tuesday night in their Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoff openers.
Third-seeded East Union took care of business on its end, handling No. 14 Los Banos, 52-35.
The Lancers (23-5) stormed out to a 14-4 lead and widened gap with a 20-point burst in the second quarter.
Nylah Dyson led them with 16 points, while fellow freshman Ava Barrera had nine. Taylor Snaer added 13 points, making five of six free throws. East Union converted 13 of its 25 attempts from the foul line.
Los Banos (15-14) was paced by America Ordunez’s 15 points.
East Union will host No. 11 West Park on Thursday.
West Park 59, Lathrop 47
Sixth-seeded Lathrop (21-7) was able to cut a double-digit deficit down to four in the fourth quarter but ended the game on a cold streak.
Sanah Sunner ended her stellar senior season for the Spartans with a 20-point effort. Alaba Olaleye, also a senior, contributed with nine points.
Jill Ngo fired 19 points for the second-year Panthers (14-13) of Roseville. Lynae White chipped in 12.
West Campus 51, Sierra 42
Seeded 10th, the upset-minded Timberwolves (11-13) put a scare into the home team.
West Campus (17-4) needed a 20-9 fourth quarter to run away with it. Sierra led 33-31 after three quarters.
The Warriors travel to No. 2 Lincoln on Thursday.
DIVISION IV
Marysville 60, Ripon 15
The No. 13 Indians (11-16) could not get untracked after trailing 22-5 in the first quarter. They were limited to a single point in the third, as No. 4 Marysville (25-4) led, 46-11.
Sophia Rogers pumped in 23 points for Marysville, which takes on No. 5 Hughson next.
DIVISION V
Ripon Christian 45, Westlake Charter 22
The eighth-seeded Knights (11-14) won in a landslide behind Maddie Yonker’s 19 points and Regan Van Der Hoek’s 14.
They’ll travel to No. 1 Bret Harte (19-6) in the quarterfinals.
