ROUNDUP: East Union softball gets offense untracked against Weston Ranch

East Union’s softball team bounced back from its first loss in Valley Oak League play Thursday, outslugging visiting Weston Ranch 12-2 in six innings at Northgate Softball Complex.
The Lancers (6-1, 9-5 overall) dropped a 5-2 decision to unbeaten Oakdale on Tuesday. It didn’t take long for them to get untracked against Weston Ranch (1-5, 5-9), as they scored four runs in each of the first two innings and totaled 15 hits.
The Cougars were able to scratch two runs across in the top of the third. Danyelle Godoy emphatically implemented the 10-run mercy rule with a walk-off homer in the sixth.
Chloe Agueda clobbered a three-run homer and finished with four RBIs. Bradee Jeffery doled out three hits while Danielle Ramos and Bella Anchundo each had two.
Winning pitcher Hayley Leonard struck out five in three innings. Shelby Cefalu pitched three perfect innings in relief.

BASEBALL
Atwater 6, East Union 0

ATWATER — East Union (9-8) was swept in the non-league series but had chances to make things interesting in the finale.
The Lancers left two runners on base in the opening frame and failed to score in the sixth after loading the bases with no outs. Atwater (14-3) was ahead 4-0 at that point, scoring all of the runs in the fourth.
Christian Nuon (four innings, four runs, seven hits, four strikeouts) got the start on the mount for East Union while Carlos Alvarez (four hits) finished it out. The Lancers were held to just three hits.

VOLLEYBALL
Lathrop 3, Los Banos 0

LOS BANOS — The Western Athletic Conference champion Spartans (11-0, 25-1 overall) celebrated Senior Night in front of a festive crowd, rolling to a 28-26, 25-13, 25-15 sweep.
Tyler Riggleman (20 kills, 25 digs), Gabriel Gutierrez (13 kills, 14 assists, 24 digs, two aces), Adrian Corona (eight kills, two aces, seven digs), Jaden Vuong (five kills, five digs), Sergio Tapia (four kills, four digs) and Mark Fabian (10 digs) were among the eight seniors recognized.
Sophomore setter R.J. Carmesis contributed 28 assists and 10 digs.

GOLF
Ripon Christian 218, Orestimba 291

RIPON — Danton Indelicato finished with an even 36 for the top overall spot in the Southern Athletic League dual held at Spring Creek Golf & Country Club. He helped the Knights improve to 9-0.
Camdan Indelicato was the runner-up with a 38. Darin Doek followed wit a 44. Alec Berghorst and Dylan Koolhaus rounded out scoring with a 50 and 51, respectively.

Ripon 223, Livingston 270
ATWATER — Ripon (9-2 Trans-Valley League) was paced by Nico Ilardi’s first-place 1-over 36 score at Rancho Del Rey Golf Club.
Cade McCusker (45), Kenny Johnson (46), Jacob Baird (47) and Aidan Nilsson (49) followed suit. Sajveer Vagri carded a 46 to lead Livingston.

TENNIS
Mtn. House 9, Lathrop 0

MOUNTAIN HOUSE— Matthew Schuck had the most competitive match for Lathrop against the WAC’s top team. He lost to Jonah Linsalgah 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

JV baseball
East Union 17, Atwater 6

ATWATER — The Lancers (10-5) set the tone with a six-run outburst in the top of the first and erupted for four more in the fourth. Six of their 13 hits went for extra bases.
Izaiah Fagundes led the barrage with three RBIs, while Benjamin Slaughter and Austin Orr plated three runs each. Jordan Barnes, Anthony Flores and Mateo Guevara all contributed two hits.

JV softball
East Union 13, Weston Ranch 0

The Lancers improved to 6-0 in the VOL and 16-2 overall with the lopsided win.
Emily Mendoza pitched three innings and struck out six. She was also 2 for 3 with a double at the plate.
Angelica Morales hit 4 for 4 with two RBIs and a double. Madison Villagon contributed two hits and two RBIs. Macie Dias and Jessica Williams also laced two hits apiece.

JV volleyball
Lathrop 2, Los Banos 0

LATHROP — Arman John registered 10 kills, 11 digs and an ace to help Lathrop (8-0 WAC, 11-3 overall) prevail, 25-10, 25-21.
Jason Seabron Jr. added seven kills, while Tory Sumbler distributed 23 assists.
