The Lathrop girls soccer team is off and running in the Western Athletic Conference, as the Spartans took care of visiting Grace Davis 5-2 Monday at Bennie Gatto Field.
They improved to 2-0 in WAC play, 2-3 overall.
“Excited to get our first win at home,” Lathrop coach Diana Nevarez said. “We had great ball movement, and excited to see what comes this season.”
Elizabeth Enriquez scored a brace. Janessa Ward, Morgan Penko and Janeese Romo tallied one apiece. Ajah Smith racked up 10 saves.
Lathrop next heads to Ceres on Wednesday.

Sutton Denny, Alani Mullenix and Lindsey Rose each scored once, and Weizemin Khan added an assist in the Timberwolves’ non-league victory at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium
Annika Beall came up with eight saves.
Manteca 14, Weston Ranch 0
Alexia Alva amassed four goals and three assists, while Alabama signee Cami Silva fired four goals and one assist for the Buffaloes (6-0).
Freshman Brooklyn Cornish put away the final three goals of the game. Galilea Sanchez collected one goal and three assists. Serenity Cerritos contributed a goal and two assists. Corinne Jones added a goal, while Jenna Poncini, Kaley Crawford and Gina Hirle each added an assist.

Elyanna Fernandez anchored the attack with six goals. Dahlia Ricaldi scored twice, and Ariana Gracia and Yoselin Cisneros Esquivel buried one each for Lathrop (1-1 WAC, 2-1 overall).
