ROUNDUP: Fa’ali’i’s 18 kills power Lathrop past Grace Davis

Gabriel Fa’ali’i crushed 18 kills in Lathrop’s 25-14, 25-12, 25-15 boys volleyball sweep at Grace Davis on Tuesday.

The freshman outside hitter also had five digs in the Western Athletic Conference clash. Lathrop improved to 4-0 in league and 6-2 overall.

Setter Jerico Santillan orchestrated the attack with 23 assists to go with four kills, two aces and four digs. Alexander Vere handed out 11 assists. Lucas Baluyut paced the defense with 23 digs.

Middle blocker Christian Buerster (five kills, two blocks) and Marco Palomares (four kills, five digs) also keyed the win.

 

SOFTBALL

Ripon Christian 5, Chavez 3 (5)

Teagan Chapman hit a triple and drove in three runs in the Knights’ road win in Stockton on Monday. The game ended after five because of rain.

Pitcher Shelby Terra struck out five for the win. Kailee Alejandra (hit, steal, RBI), Tara Heida (triple), Reagan Van Der Hoek (triple, two steals) and Emma DeBruyn (RBI) also contributed for the Knights, who evened their record to 1-1.

 

JV volleyball

Lathrop 2, Grace Davis 0

Jorge Reyes racked up 10 assists, nine digs, two kills and two aces led Lathrop's 25-15, 25-18 sweep.

Justin Alvarez pitched in four kills and three aces.
