ROUNDUP: Flory, Ripon dominate TVL golf opener

Low medalist Chad Flory finished with an even-par 59, helping Ripon dominate the Trans-Valley League opener Wednesday at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres

The Indians tallied a 332 score, and Hughson was the runner-up with a 332. Hilmar (420), Livingston (461) and Escalon (477) made up the rest of the field. Riverbank, with only two players, was disqualified.

Ripon’s Jeremie Little and Vince Uecker each had a 63 for the second best score of the day. Richie Hughes (72) and Gabe Ortmann (75) capped scoring.

T.J. McNeil of Escalon placed fourth individually with a 65. Hughson’s Andre Aguilar carded a 66.

 

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Ripon Christian 3, St. Mary’s 0

Josiah Reif compiled nine kills, six aces and two blocks to highlight the non-league road win for Ripon Christian (4-1). The Knights swept, 25-22, 25-15, 25-17.

Joel Van Groningen also had nine kills. Justin Hofman and Preston Zuidervaart split setting duties and had 17 and six assists, respectively. Mason Tameling contributed four kills and three aces.

 

Ripon 3, Grace Davis 0

The Indians (5-2) recorded their second sweep of the week.

Colten Morino and Jalen Wilson led the attack with eight and four kills, respectively. Tony Gomez handed out 15 assists, and Marquell Marshall had 29 digs. Johnny Rey served five aces.

 

JV volleyball

Ripon 2, Grace Davis 0

Libero Leo Barrera paced Ripon with 26 digs and four aces. Max Ferral set 11 assists, and Gavin Garner hammered nine kills.
