ROUNDUP: Lathrop maintains WAC flag football lead with shutout win

Lathrop is back in the driver’s seat to win its first Western Athletic Conference flag football championship outright.

The Spartans cruised to a 26-0 win over visiting Livingston on Wednesday and remain a game ahead of Central Valley and Ceres, the latter of which is responsible for their two conference defeats.

Lathrop (10-2 WAC, 15-3 overall) welcomes Central Valley for its home finale next Monday before ending the regular season two days later at Beyer.

Faith Butler shined in the shutout of Livingston, producing eight tackles, three sacks and an interception.

Luz DeLuna led the attack, completing 17 of 28 passes for 189 yards, three touchdowns, two point-after tries and an interception.

Jaleiyah Ray caught two touchdown passes, Tianna Gonzalez was on the receiving end of one and Moira Ramones scored on a 29-yard run.

 

GIRLS TENNIS

Mountain House 8, Manteca 1

Mountain House (8-0, 15-0 overall) continued to affirm its dominance in the Valley Oak League on Wednesday.

Manteca No. 1 player Hailee Kim achieved the same individually. She accounted for the lone Buffaloes (7-2, 12-5-1) win, as she knocked off Vivian Zhang, 6-2, 6-4. The freshman remains undefeated for the season.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Shreya Raman and Delailah Sanchez Torres lost a close one 4-, 6-7 (3) to Diya Sundar and Dhruvika Samala.

Lathrop 35, Livingston 0

Quarterback Aviahna Calderon led Lathrop’s landslide victory, finishing 12-of-17 passing for 133 yards, three touchdowns, five successful point-after tries and an interception. She also scored on a rushing TD.

Her touchdown passes of 14, 27 and 18 yards went to Jasmine Elayba, Marianna Coon and Ailyn Alcaraz, respectively.
