Lathrop’s girls volleyball team took care of visiting Mountain House in three sets 25-10, 25-15, 25-22 in this battle for second place in the Western Athletic Conference.
The Spartans (6-1, 9-3) remain a match back of defending champion Beyer at the halfway point of the conference schedule. Mountain House fell to 5-2 in the WAC.
Elizabeth Andrade spearheaded them with 11 kills, eight digs and four aces. Janessa Ward pitched in seven kills, four blocks, four digs and two aces.
Milyn Morales added five kills, and ZaRya Mageo had four kills and a block. Julia Roaquin dished out 14 assists, and Justine Mabutas rung up 13 digs. Annie Millan aided the cause with nine assists and three digs.
Ripon Christian 3, Le Grand 0
The Knights (7-0, 20-2 overall) were on their game against visiting Le Grand (5-2, 8-10), wrapping up the first half of Southern Athletic League play with a one-sided 25-2, 25-4, 25-3 sweep.
Sydney Hoffman, Leah Van Wyngarden and Jordan Vander Veen scorched the Bulldogs for nine kills apiece. Ripon Christian totaled 20 service aces, with Van Wyngarden leading the charge with five. Dayna Koolhaas and Hoffman added four each.
Allison Brown led the defense with 13 digs, and Megan Weststeyn delivered 32 assists.
Ripon Christian’s JV also swept, 25-6, 25-8.
Central Catholic 3, Manteca 0
In Modesto, the Buffaloes (3-1, 8-5 overall) could not keep pace with Central Catholic (4-0, 13-7) in this Valley Oak League first-place battle, 21-25, 11-25, 25-27.
Ava Negranza finished with 11 assists and six digs. Izzy Sanchez had six kills and six blocks. Nicole Ayala racked up 13 digs, while Riley Slikker chipped in seven to go with two aces. Genesis Malangi contributed three blocks and five digs.
GIRLS TENNIS
Central Catholic 5, Sierra 4
The Timberwolves took the tough VOL loss in Modesto.
Kemeily Mejia (7-5, 6-4) and Natalie Mejia (6-2, 6-2) won at Nos. 3 and 4 singles. The No. 2 doubles team of Dalia Elder and Ella Chou won in three sets, while Elina Nguyen and Evelin Garcia prevailed at No. 3 doubles, 6-1, 6-2.
Reigning VOL singles runner-up Mianna Robinson won the No. 1 match for Central Catholic 6-3, 6-3 over Navleen Dosanjh.
JV volleyball

The Buffs fell short in Modesto, 24-26, 20-25.
Kamiyah Johnson anchored the defense with 14 digs. Amaya Zavala contributed eight assists, four digs, two aces and two kills. Peyton McDonald posted six kills and six digs.
Lathrop 2, Mountain House 0
Alyana Vere fired eight kills and picked up five digs, as Lathrop fended off the Mustangs, 28-26, 25-23.
Alyssa Roller handed out 16 assists, and Tatiana Lopez recorded 10 digs. Jazmine Jiminez and Shakara Porter chipped in three and two kills, respectively.
Frosh volleyball
Manteca 2, Central Catholic 0
Manteca rolled to a 25-17, 25-18 victory behind Maddie Nunes’ three kills and two digs.
Maylea Sims chipped in six service points and five assists. Naveah Topete served seven points, three of which went for aces. Chloe Martin picked up six digs.
Lathrop 2, Mountain House 1
The Spartans battled back from an early deficit to prevail, 24-26, 25-20, 15-11.
Taylor Rios compiled five kills, three digs and two aces. Erin Chunn added eight assists and two aces. Tamia Simmons netted seven digs.
