LATHROP — The Lathrop High track and field team competed in its first Western Athletic Conference dual meet on Wednesday, with the boys and girls beating Ceres with mirroring 75-61 scores.
Erielle De La Cruz keyed the girls team with wins in the long (15 feet, 10 inches), triple (32-2) and high (4-4) jumps. Shania Leyva helped make program history when she led a 1-2-3 sweep in the pole vault.
Freshman LaNicia Ellis took first in the 200-meter dash and war part of the 400 and mile relays. Maria Soto contributed key first-place points in the 1,600 and 3,200. She was also the 800 runner-up.
On the boys side, sophomore Isaac Ramos claimed the long jump with a 20-5 mark and helped the 4x100 relay win. Other event winners for varsity boys: Omar Estrada (3,200), Vince Prasad (1,600), Justin Munoz-Romero (shot put and Manuel Castuera (triple jump).
Lathrop’s frosh-soph boys prevailed 81-40, while the girls won, 69-35.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Tracy 3, Sierra 0

The visiting Bulldogs swept, 25-18, 25-19, 25-16.
Sierra (5-4) was paced by Cyrus Hunter’s eight kills and two blocks. Carson Hibbs hammered six kills, Austin Cook had two kills along with a pair of aces and Noel Ruezga handed out 12 assists.

East Union 3, Atwater 0

ATWATER — East Union (4-2) started strong and completed the sweep, 25-7, 25-14, 25-18.
Jonathan Castaneda registered four kills, six digs and three aces for the Lancers. Flavio Mercado contributed nine kills and three blocks. Jacob Lil set 16 assists.

BOYS GOLF
Lathrop 504, Pacheco 697

The Spartans evened their WAC record to 1-1 with Luke Marcello carding a solid 5-over-77 at Manteca Park Golf Course.
Andrew Lam and Sebastian Iniguez each scored a 100, and Salvador Reyes chipped in a 106. Valen Phonthipanya rounded out scoring a 121.

Escalon 244, Ripon 248
RIPON — Escalon (2-0) picked up a big win at Spring Creek Golf & Country Club.
Ripon’s Nico Ilardi was low medalist with a 43. He was followed by Cade McCusker (49), Gage Anderson (51), Kenny Johnson (51) and Jacob Baird (54). Daniel Bava’s 44 led Escalon.

BOYS TENNIS
Manteca 6, Oakdale 3

The Buffaloes (3-0, 3-1 overall) were motivated for this Valley Oak League showdown after two losses to Oakdale kept them out of the postseason last year.
They got some key contributions from the top of the ladder. Solman Aniss defeated Liam Peters 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot, Kurtis Ma squeaked past Frank Dutra 6-2, 7-6 (3) and Nick Pio swept Caleb Poling, 6-4, 6-0.
Harshawn Singh (6-1, 6-1) and Kayson Neduvakkattu (6-0, 6-2) also picked up singles wins. Kevin Lin and Ryan Foo combined to take the No. 1 doubles match, 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
