Ripon suffered its first loss of the Valley Oak League girls golf season on Tuesday, as Escalon edged out the host Indians 245-246 at Spring Creek Golf & Country Club.

It doesn't get any easier for Ripon, which welcomes reigning VOL champion Oakdale at Jack Tone Golf Course today after downing the Mustangs on their home course last week.

“The girls really struggled in the high winds and fast greens,” Ripon coach Eric Dambrosio said. “Any miss-hit golf shot was made worse by the wind. We will have to put this loss behind us. We play Oakdale tomorrow and we need to be prepared.”

Escalon's Lucy Allbaugh was low medalist with a 4-over 40, holding off Ripon sophomore standout Gabbi Ilardi by a stroke.

The Indians tandem of Zoe Bremer and Katie Martin carded the next two best scores with a 43 and 46, respectively. Tyla Branham (56) and Anna DiGiulio (60) rounded out Ripon scoring. Ella Adams contributed a 48 for Escalon.
