Manteca High alumnus Paul Lyons IV was the runner-up finisher in the 60-meter dash during the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships last Saturday at Walkup Skydome (Flagstaff, Ariz.), and it was a close second.

The Sacramento State freshman was edged out by Eastern Washington’s Steven Warner, who posted the winning time at 8.07 seconds. Lyons’ time of 8.08 is a new personal record and fourth fastest in Sac State history.

Lyons entered the event seeded fourth and had the fifth fastest qualifying time (8.36) in Friday’s preliminary heats.

Ripon graduate Kirk Anderson, a senior at Sac State, was a part of the third-place mile relay team, which clocked the third best time in program history at 3 minutes, 14.41 seconds.

Sac State’s men’s team finished fourth out of nine schools with 65 points. Host Northern Arizona ran away with the title with 215 points.
