Freshman Tianna Sidtikun’s impact was immediate for the Ripon girls soccer team.

Not surprising considering she comes from a family of standouts.

The Indians’ attacking midfielder and part-time striker led the team with 19 assists while scoring 12 goals, and she was named the All-Trans-Valley League’s Most Valuable Offensive Player. Her older brother Thomas was selected to the All-TVL boys team. Their older sister, Tia, graduated from Ripon in 2013 and played midfielder Cal State East Bay this past fall.

TVL girls champion Hilmar garnered the rest of the top honors. Emily Vieira is the MVP, Kayley Pettigrew received Most Valuable Defense and Doug Delay is Coach of the Year.

Earning all-league spots for runner-up Ripon (9-2-1, 12-6-1 overall) are juniors Cindy Alvarez (16 goals, eight assists) and Megan Johnson (16 goals, 11 assists) and freshman Aubree Pelon (14 goals, five assists). Alvarez and Johnson are three-time all-TVL selections. Alvarez was Most Valuable Offensive Player last year.

Former Ripon standout Courtney Slamon also made all-league. The 2016 Co-Most Valuable Defensive Player played for Modesto Christian her senior year.

Goalie Alyssa Thweat, sweeper Devon Denhart, defender Kierra Chavez and forward/midfielder Madison Pugh all made honorable mention for Ripon.

The Indians boys team placed fourth in the TVL with a 5-5-2 record. Guillermo Alvarez and Paul Silva of league champion Escalon were named MVP and Coach of the Year, respectively. Hilmar’s Bryan Milan earned Best Offensive Player, and Riverbank’s Christian Bolanos is Best Defensive Player.

Ripon players joining Thomas Sidtikun on the all-league team are Patrick Maragos and Julian Brooks. Seven Indians made honorable mention: Rio Villalobos, Caleb Boersma, Jordan Duran, Matthew Mohler, Diego Franco, Joshua Veltkamp, Alfredo Limon.
