The Sierra High boys track team was able to distance themselves from some 22 programs, accumulating 88 points to win the 13th Annual Sierra-Tom Moore Relays Saturday at Sierra High.

Sierra outlasted second place Atwater (54 points) and Valley Oak League foe Oakdale (49 points) to take the tournament title. Atwater’s girls squad won the girls honors with 68 points, finishing ahead of Oakdale, Tracy and fourth place East Union High (49 points) for the title.

Lancer Megan Jordan won the 400-meter with a time 1:01.14, while co-ed teammates joined forces and took down the 4x200-meter relay for a first place Lancer finish. Teammate Jerrica Hauck made her presence felt with a first place finish in the pole vault (10’9’’), and Sierra’s Kim Lucero just missed out on the shot put title, finishing second behind Oakdale’s Jaylene Ponce.

Sierra’s boys brought in the bulk of its points with first place finishes, getting a victory from Ruben Lopez’ 400-meter win and the 4x100-meter relay victory. Sierra also nabbed the 800-meter sprint relay and a huge double-win from Ulysses Knapps in the long and triple jumps.

Grant Widmer nabbed a second place finish in the highjump, as did Adam Bennett in the discus.

Ripon’s Victor Serrano was second in the 800-meters, with a time of 2:06.
