TRACY — With Oakdale’s boys and girls teams cruising to team titles, there were few individuals from Manteca Unified schools who stood out Wednesday in the Valley Oak League Championships at Eagal Lakes.

Sierra freshman Christian Gonzalez and junior Mikayla Bueno earned top-seven finishes to make the all-league team. The postseason shifts to the Sac-Joaquin Section meets the next two Saturdays and ends Nov. 26 with the California Interscholastic Federation State Championships in Fresno.

Manteca junior standout Sienna Jones won’t be making a return appearance to state, after she was unable to finish the VOL girls race because of a foot injury.

Kassidy Fmura, Ava Calandro and Audry Scott finished 1-3-5 for Oakdale, which outpointed runner-up Central Catholic, 31-54. Sierra took third with 61 points. Fmura finished the 5,000-meter course in 21 minutes, 7 seconds.

Bueno paced Sierra in seventh place with a time of 22:14.3. East Union’s Linda Medrano took eighth (22:18.6), while Manteca sophomore Jordyn Hegarty (22:30.6) followed in ninth.

Gonzalez spearheaded local harriers in the boys race, taking sixth in 17:35.8. Ahead of him were five Oakdale runners led by Dax Daley (17:31.6) and Ripon transfer Omar Alsaidi (17:31.6). The Mustangs impressively placed eight in the top 10. Sierra sophomore Ernesto Pacheco (17:56.0) came in ninth, while Tristan Crowe (17:58.9) was close behind at 11th.

Sierra’s frosh-soph girls won the two-mile race, as Haley Hill, Haley Gama and Ashlynn Springer finished 2-3-4 behind individual champion Makenzie Forsberg (15:17.3) of Manteca. Samuel Mortenson was the top frosh-soph male from the area, taking sixth in 12:17.8.
