Sierra in cruise control over Hawks

CERES – The Sierra High golf team didn’t need its best effort, but the squad came close nonetheless, in beating Central Valley with relative ease in a 179-292 Valley Oak League win at River Oaks Golf Course Thursday.

Paul Michaleto anchored a strong Sierra showing, shooting a 32 on the par-31 course. Miguel Dominguez turned in a 36, while teammate Ryan Leasure finished with the same score.

Chase Hunter and Kasey Milan rounded out the Timberwolves’ five-some, scoring a 41 and 44, respectively.

Sierra (2-1) will look to earn its third VOL win Tuesday when they host the Lathrop Spartans.

East Union 209, Weston Ranch 252
The Lancers (3-0) continued full-speed ahead, taking down an improved Weston Ranch squad at Manteca Golf Course Thursday.

Kyle Harman turned in a medalist honors earning round of 39, three strokes better than the rounds of 42 shot by teammates Tanner Bragg, Will Brink and Jordan Duvall. Dominic Reilla finished with a nine-hole round of 44.

The Cougars (0-3) were paced y Joel Keough and Ryan Ortiz’ rounds of 45, while Tim Weatherwax shot a 49 and James Aragon a 51. Joseph Renaud chipped in with a 62. The Cougars will try to chart a win Monday when they host a non-league match at Van Buskirk.
