Despite Sierra playing its third game in as many days Thursday, the Timberwolves showed no sign of fatigue heading into next week’s season-ending series against Manteca that will determine the Valley Oak League champion.

The Timberwolves (11-1 VOL, 19-3 overall) took care of business by defeating Lathrop 19-1 in five innings. Jakob Gallagher earned the win while giving up two hits and two walks in four innings and Dakota Connors closed out the fifth.

“It was a good week for us,” Sierra head coach Jack Thomson said. “We had a good level of energy and Gallagher was solid.”

Lathrop (2-9-1, 3-17-1) received a hit apiece from Carlos Estrada and Santiago Kantun.

Sierra, on the other hand, received triples from Jake Souza (3 for 3) and Tyler Moss. Connors went 2 for 3 and so did Kyle Oden and Ian Rodriguez. Jacob Vaughan finished 2 for 2.

East Union 16,
Weston Ranch 5

Gabe Chavez’s 3-for-4 performance that included a double and three RBIs led the Lancers (5-7, 6-16) and Marco Gonzales finished with four RBIs despite going 1 for 3. Jake Danhoff went 2 for 4 with a two-RBI double and Kyle Emerson was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Weston Ranch (1-11, 3-20) trailed by two heading into the seventh before they surrendered an additional seven to make up the final. Gonzales had a two-RBI hit in that inning and Michael Compton had an RBI-single.

Lucas Garcia got the start for East Union and gave up 10 hits and struck out five with one walk. The Cougars’ Juan Ramos went 2 for 3 with a double, triple and RBI. Manuel Rubio (three RBIs) finished 2 for 3 and Josh Dilg was 2 for 3 with two runs. Cody Simerley doubled and finished 1 for 1.

Southern League

Gustine 7, Ripon Christian 4

The Knights (10-2, 12-7) trailed by one heading into the bottom of the sixth before the Redskins tacked on two more to make up the final. Ripon Christian gave up three runs in the bottom of the first and trailed by two after an inning.

Gustine (8-4, 8-11) only tallied seven hits compared to Ripon Christian’s eight. The Knights’ Travis Vander Molen went 2 for 3 with a run and RBI. David Henderson had a hit and Billy Marr (2 for 3, run two RBIs) had a couple. Danny Vander Molen was 3 for 4 with two runs.

Travis Vander Molen took the loss from the hill and gave up three hits, four runs (two earned) with two walks and three strikeouts. His older cousin Danny gave up three runs on four hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

RC will be at Mariposa on Tuesday and then will close its regular season on Wednesday at home against the Grizzlies at 4 p.m.
