East Union dominated Kimball of Tracy on Monday with 22 shots to just one for the Jaguars in a 4-0 win for the Lancers in Valley Oak League boys’ soccer action, remaining three points behind Sierra for first place with one game to go.
“It was our senior night, so all nine seniors played most of the game,” Lancers coach Ronnie Green said. “Eighty percent of the game was in our possession.”
East Union (9-1-3 VOL, 17-4-4 overall) led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a goal by Oscar Soto assisted by Angel Guizar.
Jesus Hurtado scored a pair of goals in the second half, assisted by Soto and Jacob Garcia. Guizar added a goal off of a cross from Garcia.
The Jaguars drop to 3-8-2, 4-12-2.

Central Catholic of Modesto 1
The Raiders (3-6-2, 4-8-4) scored in the 30th minute when the ball got knocked loose from the Timberwolves goalie, but that was all they would get.
Sierra (10-1-2, 14-4-3) scored two goals in a five-minute span late in the game. In the 63rd minute Osayi Osawaro got the ball in the net off of an assist from Brayan Nunez and in the 68th minute Tristan Gonzalez skipped on past the Central Catholic goalie for what proved to be the game-winner.
“Again we dominated in the second half,” Timberwolves coach Joe Pires said. “We had many good looks and you have to give Central Catholic credit because they played a tough and physical defensive game.”
Sierra hosts Weston Ranch on Wednesday to close out the VOL campaign with a chance to clinch the championship, leading East Union by three points.

OAKDALE – Leading the host Mustangs (7-4-2, 10-9-4) by two points for third place going into the game, the loss drops the Cougars (7-5-1, 7-12-3) into fourth place by a point with one game to play.
“Third place was on line tonight,” Weston Ranch coach Francisco Cisneros said. “We were a little sloppy defending and made some mistakes we can fix easily.
“You can’t play like that against playoff-bound teams like Oakdale and expect to win.”
Oakdale went up 2-0 in the first half before Robert Gonzalez scored late in the first half to make the score 2-1. After the Mustangs bumped their lead to 4-1 in the second half Devon Alvarenga and Vidal Garcia scored for the Cougars to make the final 4-3.
Southern League
Delhi 4, Ripon Christian 2
The Hawks (10-2-2 SL, 10-5-4) never trailed, but the Knights (1-12-1, 4-18-2) never gave up the fight.
“We fought back after being down 3-1 at half,” Ripon Christian coach Christian Manes said.
“We had a lot of good opportunities late in the game and my guys were pretty resilient. I was proud of them for that.”
Matthijs Moret scored in the first half for Ripon Christian to make the score 3-1. Nathan Litfin scored the night’s last goal to draw the Knights within 4-2.

East Union 9, Kimball 0
The Lancers shutout keeps East Union undefeated in league play at 9-0.
Samuel Mendoza, Christopher Avila and Louis Ruvalcaba each scored two goals for the Lancers and Pearce Kemptner and Jagmeet Gill played great defense for East Union. .

Central Catholic 1
The Timberwolves used a balanced attack with David Garza, Francisco Becerra, Axel Rios, Cooper Ruiz, and Kevin Hernandez each scoring a goal.
Ethan Rullen tallied two assists with Rios and Francisco Becerra each had one assist.
