Sierra’s Scott Tolman set four school records Saturday at the Sac-Joaquin Section Swim Championships on Saturday at Tokay High, and in doing so he qualified for the inaugural state meet.

Tolman’s state-qualifying and school-record times came with second-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (21.34 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (56.28). His other records came in the eighth-place 200 medley (1:39.67) and 400 freestyle relays (3:15.16) with Trevor Fast, John Buonauro and Zack Thomas.

Fast also set a school record in the trials of the 100 butterfly on Friday.

Tolman had a terrific weekend overall. In the Davis Post High School Meet at UC Davis, he recorded the 38th fastest 200 breaststroke time ever recorded in the United States for 15-16 year olds, clocking in at 2:00.31.

Gwyneth Berry, Vanessa Flores, Natalie Jamero and Natalie Randolph finished seventh in the consolation 400 free relay (4:03.33) for the Timberwolves, swimming a new personal best.

For Ripon, freshman Ty Wells finished sixth in the varsity 100 butterfly (51.68) and 100 breaststroke (58.36). Hannah Sweet was sixth in the consolation 500 freestyle (5:13.30).

At the frosh-soph level for the Indians, Daniel Esenwein was third in the 100 backstroke (54.59) and fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:45.67).

Elizabeth Wenner was sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:03.04) and third in the consolation 50 freestyle (25.59). The Indians girls 200 medley relay — Andria Martin, Kyra Foley, Chloe Winter, Wenner — was sixth (1:55.65), and 200 freestyle relay — Mallory Brubaker, Martin, Winter, Wenner — was seventh (1:44.49).

Martin was seventh in the frosh-soph 100 backstroke (1:03.60).  Brubaker was first in the varsity consolation 500 freestyle (5:18.18) and second in the consolation freestyle (2:00.56).

The first CIF State Swim Championships take place this Friday and Saturday at the Clovis West Aquatic Complex.
