Five-time Valley Oak League girls golf champion East Union had its primary six players earn all-conference honors.

The Lancers finished 11-1 in regular-season play and dominated the VOL Championships this past Monday at Pine Mountain Lake Golf Course in Groveland, outscoring runner-up Oakdale, 469-502.

Sonora finished third with 513 points, joining Oakdale and East Union in next Monday’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division-IV Tournament at Lockeford Springs Golf Course.

The league’s top six players not on the three qualifying teams also advance to divisional, and four of them represent Sierra.

Leading the way for East Union is Angelique Cardoza, who beat out teammate Jenny Ketner by a point for the second-place spot in the individual point standings.

Oakdale freshman Mabel Wong captured league MVP honors by an overwhelming margin, finishing with 86 points. Cardoza and Ketner followed with 71 and 70, respectively, and Sonora’s Rachel Rosasco was fourth with 58.

Other Lancers earning all-league first-team honors were sophomore Jordan Vinson (fifth place, 54 points) and Kailee Nuding (sixth, 45). Brittany Ugalino (11th, 38) and Alyssa Telles (15th, 34) made the all-league second team.

For Sierra, Lexus Barnes placed seventh with 45 points to make the first-team cut, and sophomore Toralyn Hohn (13th, 37) earned second-team recognition. Fellow Timberwolves Elia Vasquez and Brianne Lenoci qualified for the divisional tournament, as did Weston Ranch’s Jonelle Mungcal.
