Hailey Cruz collected five goals in two games Friday, as the Sierra girls soccer team cruised to the semifinal round of its Vern Gebhardt Cup tournament.
The Timberwolves (4-1) face Valley Oak League foe Central Catholic at 10:45 this morning at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium. Ripon and Gregori square off in the other semifinal also at 10:45. The third-place match is set for 1:30 p.m., with the championship to follow at 3:15.
Sierra opened with a 13-0 waxing of Waterford before dispatching for VOL rival Weston Ranch, 4-2. The Timberowolves had 11 different goal scorers in the morning game, getting two goals and two assists from Lindsey Rose and two goals and an assist from Cruz.
Also contributing were Payton Abrew (goal, assist), Alani Mullenix (goal), Sutton Denny (goal, assist), Jenni Nassayan (assist), Aman Dhillon (goal), Presley Perez (goal, two assists), Annika Beall (goal), Hannah Hint (goal), Larissa Phillips (goal), Weizemin Khan (assist) and Amanda Riggleman (goal). Sierra fired 28 shots, 18 of them on goal.
Cruz came through with a hat trick against Weston Ranch. Abrew put away the other goal. Khan contributed two assists, and Denny had one. Beall totaled five goalie saves on the day.

Manteca 6, Edison 0
Galilea Sanchez broke through for three goals in the second half and assisted both goals for Cami Silva to propel the Buffaloes to the winners-bracket semifinals of their own tournament.
Freshman Mackenzie Forsberg had a goal, and Haylie Brasil recorded one save.
Manteca (7-0-1) plays Los Banos this morning at 8.
