Desperate for a win, East Union pounded visiting Weston Ranch 7-0 Tuesday at Dino Cunial Field.

The defending champion Lancers (1-0-2, 4-1-3 overall) opened the Valley Oak League season with two ties last week and had to face a dangerous Weston Ranch squad (0-3, 2-6) that nearly upset undefeated Manteca in a 1-0 loss.

East Union dominated from the outset, as Alfredo Solorzano scored the first of his three goals inside the first five minutes of the match. Jordan Kron deflected in a corner kick to give the Lancers two-goal cushion by halftime.

Jaime Castaneda and Solorzano each scored twice in the second half, while Alejandro Perez added one.

East Union gets another tough test on Thursday when it hosts Oakdale, while Weston Ranch heads to Lathrop.

The Spartans (0-1-2, 5-1-2) suffered their first league loss Tuesday.

Davis Harper and Oskar Nilsson each scored a goal for Oakdale (2-1, 5-8-1).
