The Lathrop wrestling team swept its Valley Oak League double-dual meet with Weston Ranch and Kimball on Wednesday.

The Spartans dispatched Weston Ranch 51-27 on the strength of five pins, including three in the first period.

Lathrop also rolled past Kimball, 55-24, with a more workmanlike approach.

Alex Garcia and Daniel Pinedo bolstered the victories with near -matching performances.

The 128-pound Garcia pinned Weston Ranch’s Steven Gill in the first period, triggering a run of five pins in six matches.

Donald Garland (140), Pinedo (147), Manuel Valim (154) and Deavin Young (162) also recorded pins, extending Lathrop’s lead to 45-0.

All told, Lathrop won the first 10 matches against Weston Ranch, surging out to a 51-0 lead.

The Cougars didn’t go quietly and received pins from 108-pounder Mia Hall and its heavyweight Austin, whose first name wasn’t available.

Pins may have been hard to come by against Kimball, but the Spartans had no problem collecting points.

Both Garcia and Pinedo buried their opponents beneath a mountain of points en route to convincing wins.

Lathrop won 10 of the 14 weight classes and forfeited two others.

Also posting victories against Kimball were: Joshua Suarez (122), Christian Garcia (128), Valim (162), Tyler Kerlegan (197), Mario Ragosa (222), Kimberly Vega (108) and Mysson Harrell (115).
