RIPON — The Manteca High boys soccer team is off and running after Friday’s 5-0 victory over Ripon at Stouffer Field.

“We worked hard and played well,” Manteca coach Justin Coenenberg said. “We did well keeping possession yet we made a few mistakes here and there. We were able to make adjustments, clean things up and overall had a good first game of the season.”

Four different Buffaloes contributed with goals. Raul Marquez got them rolling with an unassisted goal, and Ramon Rojas added another — off a feed from Kevin Rodriguez — for a 2-0 halftime lead.

Aron Navarrete recorded the final two goals of the game. Rodriguez netted one of his own earlier in the second half.
