The Ripon High girls swim team secured the outright championship in the Valley Oak League on Friday, dusting host Sierra, 127-43.
It’s the fifth straight league title claimed by the Indians, who had first-place finishes in all but two events in the regular-season finale.
Ripon’s boys also won handily 110-59 in a battle for second place. Oakdale went undefeated to claim the boys crown.
Sophomore Ashtyne Topie was among Ripon’s top female competitors with wins in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke. The Indians dominated each individual event they won, earning 1-2-3 finishes.
Taylor Blair (200 free), Eleanor Tran (100 butterfly), Amber Scheid (100 free) and Kennedy Brubaker (200 free) each contributed a win. Ripon also took first in the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free relays.
Meghan Tolman was a bright spot for Sierra, which ended the dual season with a 3-4 record. She raced to wide victories in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.
Donovan Armstrong (200 IM), Nolan Boger (100 fly), Conner McClure (100 free), Kai West (500 free) and Jake Chapin (100 breast) were individual-event winners for Ripon’s 6-1 boys team.
Sierra (5-2) was paced by Nik Brink (200 free), Jordan Shinn (50 free) and Charles Randolph (100 back) West narrowly edged out Brink in the 500 free, finishing in 5 minutes, 13.21 seconds. Brink clocked in at 5:13.73.
Ripon won the junior varsity girls competition, 82-38. Tessa Hunter led the Indians with wins in the 50 fly and 50 back. Hailey Butticci (100 free) was Sierra’s lone first-place finisher.
