ROSEVILLE — Manteca High’s Julia Tang and Sahiba Kaur lost their final two matches in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Individual Tournament on Friday, settling for fourth place at Johnson Ranch Racquet Club.
The third-seeded Buffaloes tandem started with a 3-6, 1-6 semifinal loss to Armijo’s Faustina and Flora Wan. The Valley Oak League doubles champions then lost 1-6, 4-6 to top-seeded Claire and Emma Chally.
Katie McDaniel and Tatianna Orellana of Vanden prevailed as the surprise Division II doubles titlists. Seeded fourth, they upset the Chally sisters 6-3, 6-1 and took out the Wans 6-4, 7-5 in the final.
Tang and Kaur’s season is not over yet. They’ll join the rest of the Buffaloes on Monday for the SJS Division III team playoff semifinals against visiting El Capitan.
