Thomas spoils Brooks no-hit bid with one out remaining

RIPON – Escalon starter Kaitlyn Brooks took a perfect game into the seventh inning Thursday at Ripon Christian.

But was two outs on the scoreboard, RC’s Katie Thomas broke up the no-no with a single to center.

The Cougars scored three each in the fourth and fifth.

Sarah Nieweg got the start for the Knights and struck out 11, while allowing seven hits.

Brooks finished with 13 strikeouts.
RC travels to Riverbank Tuesday.
