Manteca shuts out another VOL foe

Four Manteca singles players shut out their opponents Tuesday, and the first-place Buffaloes continued their Valley Oak League supremacy with a 9-0 rout of Lathrop.
Manteca’s top three players — Julia Tang, Koryn Menasco and Taylor Corona — and No. 6 Stephanie Mercado all rolled to 6-0, 6-0 victories. Makenna Condit defeated Darlene Hoang 6-1, 6-1, while Sahiba Kaur won 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 and 5 matches, respectively.
Ravneet Dhillon at Navina Mann dispatched Erica Garlit and Leslie Barraza 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 doubles contest. The No. 2 tandem of Julianne Eavenson and Kaileah Johannson coasted to a 6-0, 6-1 win. Noeli Mercado and Melissa Poncini swept, 6-0, 6-1.
The Buffaloes are now 5-0 in the VOL and 7-1 overall.

Sierra 9, Oakdale 0
OAKDALE — The Timberwolves (4-1) separated themselves as the second-best team in the VOL with their road win.
Kaitlyn Rausa continued her unbeaten start in league with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Lijian Bucad in No. 1 singles. Nadia Petrovic (6-0, 6-3), Ellie Kim (6-4, 6-1), Melanie Nguyen (7-6, 6-1), Sydney Huynh (6-4, 6-3) and Natlie Rootsaert (6-0, 6-2) also picked up singles wins for Sierra.
Two three-set doubles matches went the Timberwolves’ way to preserve the shutout. In the No. 1 matchup, Alyssa Patterson and Amaya Baluhut battled back to beat Kendra Branch and Cailie Rariden, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2. Xochitl Torres and Arianna Herrera held off Paige Morgan and Jessica Garcia, 7-6, 4-6, 10-6. Joyce Sebastian and Diana Duenas topped it off with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

STOCKTON — Angelee Rivera threatened to extend the No. 6 singles match in a 1-6, 5-7 loss to Josephine Henderson.
Central Catholic otherwise had little trouble picking up points. Sarah Van Ness and Suzanne Mansean won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and 2 singles.
