TRACK: Lathrop caps off perfect first season in WAC

MOUNTAIN HOUSE — Lathrop High continues to rack up championships in its first year in the Western Athletic Conference.
On Wednesday, the varsity boys and girls track and field teams ended the regular season with perfect 7-0 records after beating Mountain House. Scores were unavailable as of press time.
Joey Sanchis was among the top points producers for the Spartans, taking first in the 200, 400, 300 hurdles and the mile relay. Vince Prasad also picked up big points with wins in the 800 and the mile.
Jaime Abida spearheaded a 1-2-3 Lathrop finish in the 110 hurdles. Jordan Denning (discus) and Julian Silva (3,200) also won events.
Eriell De La Gruz paced Lathrop’s girls with wins in the long, triple and high jumps. She shared the top spot in the high jump with teammate Alessandra Giordano. LaNicia Ellis blazed to winning times of 26.01 and 63.22 in the 200 and 400, while Ashley Gaspar took first in the 100. Both were also part of the winning 4x100.
Maria Soto coasted to victories in the three distance events. Isis Loudd took first in the discus, and Kryshara Gary won the shot put.
Up next is the WAC Championships held at Pacheco High of Los Banos this Saturday.
