Sierra swept East Union in Valley Oak League track and field action Thursday, squeaking out a 68-63 boys win and convincingly winning the girls 90-27.
The Lancers’ Maury Ortiz won three events — the 800 meters, 1600 and along with Matthew Slight, Lydell King and Eric Morales the 4x400 relay — and was third in the 3200. Johnny Sandoval won the 3200 and was second in the 800 and 1600, Morales won the 400 and Slight was third in the 100.
The Timberwolves’ Holden Fishburn won the shot and discus. Eric Lopez and Kimoni Stanley went one-two in the 100 and 200, Isaiah Sanchez won the high jump and triple jump and was second in the long jump.
In girls action, Sierra’s Jenelle Rodriguez won the 800 and 3200 and was second in the 1600.
Katelyn Finnicum won the 100 and 300 hurdles and Madison Boyd won the long jump and was second in the 100 hurdles. Abida Ali and Renee Hamilton went one-two in the shot and discus.
For East Union, Lauren Pablo won the 200 and was second to teammate Taylor Snaer in the 400.

Lathrop girls 80, Johansen 47
The Spartans swept the Vikings in Lathrop swept Johansen in Western Athletic Conference competition Wednesday.
Ashley Gaspar took three firsts – the 100-meter dash, the 4x100 relay with LaNicia Ellis, Alaba Olaleye and Alessandra Giordano and the 4x400 relay which included Ellis, Giordana and Amaya Terry with Gaspar taking second in the 200. Ellis won the 200 and Giordano the high jump.
Freshman Galadriel Mellion took first in both throws, going 43 feet, 5 inches in the shot put and 140-5 in the discus. Lathrop the long and triple jumps with Brianna Salcedo winning the triple jump and Manreet Uppal winning the long jump. The Spartans swept the pole vault with Shania Levya taking first, Uppal second and Aiana Rios third.

Lathrop boys 99, Johansen 37
Lathrop’s Joey Sanchis won the 200, 400, and was on both winning relay teams with the 4x100 relay including Emmanuel Aibuedefe, Max Beasley and Ibukun Ladunni. J.R Stevenson and Josiah Davis tied for first in the 110 hurdles with Davis winning the high jump and Stevenson winning the 300 hurdles. Beasley and Aibuedefe went 1-2 in the 100, Omar Estrada won the 800 and took second in the 3200. Jose Soto won the 3200 and was third in the 800 and 1600. The Spartans went 1-2-3 in the pole vault with Isaac Hernandez winning it followed by Obaid Masoor and Hugo Garcia.
