Swimming standout Ty Wells has added four more medals to his growing collection.

The 14-year-old St. Anthony’s School graduate and incoming Ripon High freshman finished in 11th place in the individual points standings for his division during the Long Course Far Western Championships held at the Concord Community Pool.

The massive five-day event ended this past Sunday. It’s a major event that draws many of the top youth swimmers in North America, with some coming from Canada and Mexico.

Also in on the action was Ripon Aquatics teammate Matthew Trejo, 12, a Woodward School seventh grader. He took fifth in the 50-meter butterfly in 29.37 seconds.

Wells ruled the 100 fly, capturing gold in 58.19. He was also fifth in the 50 and 100 freestyle (25.67, 56.23) and ninth in the 100 breast (1:18.69). The nine finalists of every race earned medals.

Wells also shined at the Short Course Far Westerns this past April, garnering six medals including golds in the 100 breast and 50 free.
