All games start at 4 p.m.

Trans-Valley League champion Ripon has a chance to host two Sac-Joaquin Section playoff games this week.

The Indians (17-11) are seeded fourth in the Division IV bracket and open with No. 13 Sonora (7-10) today at Mistlin Sports Complex. Four local teams are among the 85 that have qualified for the postseason. All games are scheduled for 4 o’clock starts, and the semifinal round in all seven divisions will be decided in best-of-three series.

Championship games take place May 23-26 at Sacramento City College or Islanders Field in Lathrop.

A win today sets Ripon up with a second-round match with either No. 5 Casa Roble (16-11) or No. 12 El Dorado (10-14). Golden Empire League champ Woodland (18-3) and Oakmont (15-13) of the competitive Foothill Valley League are the top-two seeds, respectively, and have been awarded first-round byes.

Also today, Manteca rivals Sierra (12-12) and East Union (13-10) are bound for Placer County for the Division III playoffs.

Sierra, which placed third in the Valley Oak League, is seeded 11th and heads to No. 6 Roseville (17-10), the third-place team out of the Capital Valley Conference. VOL champion Central Catholic (16-7-1) is the No. 3 seed and could meet the Timberwolves on Thursday, if both win their openers. Twelfth-seeded East Union (13-10) is travelling to Lincoln (15-10).

FVL titlist Ponderosa (15-9-1) and Capital Athletic League champion Christian Brothers are seeded 1-2 in Division III.

Southern Athletic League co-champion Ripon Christian slipped to eight-team Division VII bracket with Le Grand getting the tiebreaking edge for postseason seeding purposes. The third-seeded Knights (18-6) welcome Sierra Delta League runner-up Rio Vista (8-6), the No. 6 seed, on Wednesday. A win likely pits them against No. 2 Woodland Christian (19-3) in the semifinals.

Tickets are only acquired digitally through GoFan. General admission for games leading up to the finals are $8, $6 for seniors and military, $5 for students and children ages 5 and under are free.
